Process description
The risk of contamination from oxygen is also present during the filling process. In order to avoid this, inert gases are used for conveying and creating tension in the containers.
Messer solution
Particularly when filling carbonated beverages, the correct choice of conveying gas has to be considered. Carbon dioxide and nitrogen are used. But the use of pure CO2 can cause over-carbonation, whereas the use of pure nitrogen can lead to de-carbonation. Depending on the degree of carbonation in the beer a suitable gas mixture has to be selected. Also, when conveying the beer through pipes and during tapping a gas mixture of about 70 - 75% nitrogen and 25 - 30% carbon dioxide should be used.
