Messer at Formnext in Frankfurt

This year, the German industrial gases specialist Messer will be exhibiting at Formnext along with laser technology and material testing specialist Nutech for the first time. The trade fair for additive manufacturing will take place in Frankfurt from 13 to 16 November. At Stand G49 in Hall 3.0, Messer will be providing information on the possible applications of gases in additive manufacturing: during the printing process, gases are used as protective, carrier or cooling gas. In addition, a gas atmosphere is needed for subsequent heat treatment. The choice of gas depends on the particular material and process involved. Messer offers the right solution for a wide range of applications.

  • During the Laser metal deposition (LMD) the powder is fed to the laser head itself and then sprayed into the processing zone (printing zone) with the help of a carrier gas in the form of a beam which is concentric around the actual laser beam. A shielding gas is required in addition to the carrier gas.
  • Messer has introduced a new product range “Addline” providing high quality gases needed for additive manufacture.
